Meatballs. I have a story for you. While I was studying abroad in the U.S., people were convinced that Italians eat spaghetti and meatballs, but the sad truth is that no, we don’t at all. One day I was invited to dinner at a friend’s house, and they prepared spaghetti and meatballs, they were happy and proud to have made an “Italian dish” for a “real Italian”. Well, thanks. That’s really good but not Italian at all. The disappointment on their face was hilarious!
Italians eat meatballs, just not with pasta! This particular recipe of polpette (meatballs in Italian) doesn’t contain any meat, so if you are vegetarian you will appreciate it even more. Even if you are a omnivorous, you will enjoy it too!
Due to their consistency, I suggest you to eat your meatballs when they are still hot. Since they are deliciously flavorful, you can dip your meatballs in yogurt sauce and serve them with a fresh salad. Let me know if you are happy with your result!
